A Court Wedding Alternative 

Couples often daydream about their wedding day long before they get married. There are a plethora of daunting decisions that need to be made in perpetration for the big day which leads some couples to opt for much simpler court or home affairs wedding ceremonies.

Although we are both somewhat religious, just after our engagement, both my husband and I knew that we could never afford a traditional white wedding, so a white church wedding ceremony followed by a big family wedding reception was out of the question. It is sad that our budget would compromise the most important day of our lives, but this was our reality and there were no other choices. The process was pretty straightforward but cold and devoid of everything that makes a wedding special. It felt more like making a statement at the local police station than any kind of wedding. We were only allowed 2 witnesses and two additional guests.

Would I Get Married In Court Again?

Were I to do it again, I would have made the effort to do something very different. Luckily there are more options available to couples today. I especially like the offering by Will Chris Estate in Witbank which is suitable for any couple on a very tight budget or couples wanting a low key ceremony but still wishing to mark the occasion with their closest friends and family.

Court Wedding Alternative Packages in Witbank

The first package includes the hire of Will Chris Estate’s non denominational chapel, either inside or outside. The chapel will be decorated to your liking and this is included in their rate. Couples have the option of having their own priest, pastor or religious leader lead their nuptual proceedings ( their basic package) or the Will Chris Estate team can provide their own pastor or priest at an additional cost. (Refer to details below). A table and bench is available for the signing register which also provides opportunities for photographs. After the ceremony, Champaign is offered to your guests (1 bottle is included in their first package) and to top off the ceremony, their gorgeous subtropical garden featuring expansive lawns, treeferns, palms, waterfalls, a huge lake with an island thatched lapa, bridges and Grecian and Victorian pavilions, a working windmill and pristine roman statues offer endless photographic backdrops. Both packages are for weekdays only.

Their second package goes a little further, offering everything in their basic package plus a Will Chris Estate designated priest or pastor, an extra bottle of Champaign as well as fruit juice and finger snacks for 10 people. Flowers are also included in the more expensive, second package.
